Pat Cummins IPL Team 2024
In the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL), Pat Cummins leads Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) as captain. The Australian bowler became the second most expensive player in the history of the IPL when he was purchased by SRH for ₹20.50 crore in December 2023.
Cummins was instrumental in SRH’s run to the 2024 IPL final. With an economy of 9.23 and a talent for taking wickets at critical times, he has been having his greatest IPL season.
Cummins has also played for the following teams in the IPL:
• Sydney Thunder: from 2014–15 till 2018–19
• The 2017 Delhi Daredevils
• The 2020–2022 Kolkata Knight Riders
Due to his commitment to Test cricket and his preference for Australian cricket, Cummins has not yet made a decision on his participation in the IPL 2025.
Pat Cummins SRH
Cummins: SRH has earned the privilege of having these days while still winning competitions.
Following his team’s eight-wicket loss to the Kolkata Knight Riders in Tuesday’s Qualifier 1 in Ahmedabad, Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins expressed his desire “to put this one behind pretty quickly” without feeling upset.
Cummins remarked following the game, “I suppose we have earned the right to have one of those days and still win tournaments.” “Not our day but good thing we have another crack at it [qualifying for the final].”
Following their decision to bat, SRH was dismissed for 159 in 19.3 overs after being completely destroyed by Mitchell Starc in the powerplay. In response, Venkatesh Iyer and Shreyas Iyer reached the final by smashing undefeated fifties to surpass the goal in 13.4 overs.
“A bit off the pace,” Cummins described the work of his team. “Remember those T20 cricketing days? There are days when things don’t quite work out, even if you have a very excellent side.We probably weren’t as good with the bat as we would have liked because so few guys didn’t get off to starts. Then, yes, the ball was unable to complete the task. Kolkata had excellent bowling. There was some in it early, but that wicket improved. However, it does occur.
Another topic of conversation was SRH’s choice to use Sanvir Singh as their Impact Player. He fell to Sunil Narine on the first ball after SRH had reached 121 for 6 in the 14th over. According to Cummins, the choice was made to provide SRH more batting power at the expense of an additional bowling option in the second innings.
“The final game was played by Sunny [Sanvir].” We believed that the additional batting was crucial, but we were hoping not to deploy the batting substitute to have Umran [Malik] on our sleeve on that surface,” he remarked.
When SRH plays the winners of the Eliminator between Royal Challengers Bengaluru [RCB] and Rajasthan Royals [RR] in Chennai on Friday, they will have another chance to go to the final.
“Visiting a new location is also beneficial. You have to start over because it will feel a little different here,” Cummins said. “We have got a good body of work behind us this season to look back on, so we erase this one and move on.”

Pat Cummins Career
Pat Cummins Domestic Career
The Glenbrook Cricket Club was where Pat Cummins started playing cricket. He then began playing cricket professionally for Penrith in 2010. In the 2010–11 season, he became the top wicket-taker in the T20 Big Bash League 2010 and had his finest domestic cricket performance. He made his professional cricket debut against Tasmania in March 2011 and claimed his first four-wicket haul.
Pat Cummins IPL Career
Pat Cummins joined the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2014 because of his amazing speed and steady ability to make accurate deliveries. But over the following two seasons, he was only able to play in four games because of injuries and a lack of opportunity.
The Delhi Capitals signed Cummins for the 2017 Indian Premier League. He participated in 12 games that season and claimed 17 wickets. He then became the most costly player in the 2020 IPL Auction when KKR purchased him for an incredible 15.50 crores, or AUD 3.17 million. He was back with the Kolkata Knight Riders as a result.
Cummins demonstrated his abilities throughout the 2020 IPL season by claiming 12 wickets in 14 games, including a noteworthy four-wicket haul. He played seven games in the first half of the 2021 Indian Premier League, but he decided to forego the second half in the United Arab Emirates to be with his wife when their first kid was born.
Everyone was also taken aback by Cummins’ batting prowess, as he amassed an undefeated 66 runs in just 34 balls, including four boundaries and six sixes. Despite KKR’s 18-run defeat, Cummins showed off a fresh side of his cricketing abilities.
Cummins was released by KKR prior to the IPL 2022 auction, but the squad ultimately paid INR 7.25 crores for him in spite of fierce competition from the newly formed IPL teams, Gujarat and Lucknow.
Cummins tied KL Rahul’s record for the fastest fifty in IPL history with a brilliant fifty in just 14 balls in his debut for KKR in the 2022 season. Although he was benched in a few games after giving up too many runs, the Australian fast bowler also took seven wickets in the five games he played during the season. Pat Cummins thus found himself in the Kolkata Knight Riders’ recognisable purple and gold hues once more.
Pat Cummins Test Career
At the astonishingly early age of 18, Cummins made his Test cricket debut—a unique accomplishment. There were a lot of hopes for his performance in his debut Test match against South Africa in 2011.
With 29 wickets in 10 innings, Cummins ended up taking the most wickets in the 2019 Ashes series, which was played in England. With a 2-2 record in the five-Test series, Australia kept the trophy. Cummins also played effectively during Australia’s 2019 summer, grabbing 12 wickets against New Zealand and 8 wickets against Pakistan.
Despite Australia losing 2-1 at home for the second straight year, Cummins took 21 wickets in four games during the 2020–21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India, making him the series’ top wicket-taker.
Tim Paine was replaced by Cummins as Australia’s Test captain shortly before the 2021–22 Ashes series. In the esteemed Test series, he once again topped the bowling rankings with an average of 18.05. He claimed 21 dismissals in four games. Cummins led the bowling stats for the third time in the Ashes series.
With 12 dismissals in the three Test matches, including game-winning numbers of 5/56 in Lahore, Cummins made a substantial contribution for Pakistan. His performance was essential to Australia winning their lone game and ultimately winning the series 1-0.
Pat Cummins ODI Career
Due to recurrent injuries and the availability of Mitchell Johnson, Mitchell Starc, and James Faulkner as fast bowlers, Cummins only appeared in two games for the Australian squad that won the title in 2015.
He was selected to play in the ODI series against India in 2019. He gave up 48 runs in 10 overs and failed to claim any wickets in the opening ODI. He did considerably better in the second ODI, though, taking four wickets for just 29 runs. In the fourth ODI, he bowled his greatest ODI innings, taking five wickets for 70 runs and limited India to 358/9. Cummins claimed 31 wickets overall in 2019, 14 of which came in the 2019 ICC World Cup.
In the opening game against South Africa on February 29, 2020, Cummins took his 100th ODI wicket, marking a significant milestone. Cummins only participated in nine ODI matches when cricket returned in June 2020 after the COVID-19 hiatus. His elevation to Test captaincy, the rise in T20I matches, and his participation in T20 leagues across the globe were some of the primary causes of this.
Cummins was named the next captain of Australia’s ODI team on October 18, 2022, replacing Aaron Finch.
Pat Cummins T20 Career
In 2011, Pat made his debut for the national squad against South Africa. He took five wickets in total throughout this two-match T20 series, including two in the first and three in the second. Between 2011 and 2018, Pat Cummins did not play frequently in T20 International matches, in contrast to the lengthier cricket formats. During that time, he participated in just 18 T20 Internationals and claimed 23 wickets at an average of 20.47.
The Australian fast bowler did not establish himself as a consistent member of the T20I playing XI until 2019. He got five wickets during the tournament and played brilliantly in the latter parts of the matches, giving up an average of 7.10 runs per over, helping Australia win the 2021 T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates. In the 2022 T20 World Cup, which Australia hosted, Pat Cummins kept his seat.
