Grant DuBose updates - Latest news, what to know about Dolphins WR after hospital stay
In Week 15 of the 2024 NFL season, Miami Dolphins wide receiver Grant DuBose suffered one of the most severe injuries.
In the third quarter of Miami’s 20–12 loss to the Houston Texans on Sunday, DuBose sustained an injury: Houston safety Calen Bullock struck the wideout in the head when he tried to make a grab over the centre of the field. DuBose looked to go through the fencing reaction while lying on his back after his head struck the turf with power.
Medical staff raced to DuBose’s aid, removing his facemask and jersey and bracing his head with a neck brace as he lay still on the field. He received treatment from emergency medical staff on the pitch for over ten minutes. After donning an oxygen mask, the 23-year-old receiver was eventually carried off the pitch on a stretcher.

On Monday morning, the Dolphins gave a good report on DuBose’s health: The wide receiver is under constant medical surveillance and has full range of motion in all limbs.
DuBose spent the night in a hospital in the Houston region. Due to a head injury, DuBose was ruled out by the Dolphins and sent to a nearby hospital for assessment. His health is stable.
Following the game, head coach Mike McDaniel informed media that the team’s preliminary testing results on DuBose were positive. On Monday, the receiver was still in Houston.

Tua Tagovailoa, the quarterback, admitted to some of the fault, telling reporters that he could have placed the ball more accurately.
His Dolphins teammates stood aside and formed a circle, kneeling and seemingly praying during the 12-minute delay. At one point, when DuBose was still undergoing medical treatment, McDaniel and Houston head coach DeMeco Ryans shared an embrace.

Due to a shoulder injury that has kept him out of action since Week 2, DuBose hasn’t contributed much offensively in his second season. Prior to his grab on Sunday for minus two yards, he had only made one catch on three targets this season.
DuBose played Division II football when he first enrolled in college. He held three jobs during the COVID-19 epidemic in 2020, including grocery bagging at Walmart. He joined Charlotte in 2021 after emerging from the pandemic. He played the whole season on the practice squad after being picked by the Green Bay Packers with the No. 256 overall choice in Round 7 of the 2023 NFL Draft. Miami acquired DuBose off waivers after he was waived by the Packers prior to the 2024 campaign.

On Monday morning, the Miami Dolphins announced that inured wide receiver Grant DuBose is still in the hospital but that he has movement in all of his extremities.
When Dubose was attempting to haul in a pass from Tua Tagaovailoa in the third quarter of the Fins’ Sunday morning game against the Texans, defensive back Calen Bullock struck him in the head.
Trainers appeared to rip off DuBose’s jersey before strapping him to a backboard and taking him to a local hospital, and the scene was terrifying as he lay motionless for several minutes.
The 23-year-old is thankfully showing signs of recovery, according to the Dolphins, “and initial tests have revealed positive results.”
“He remains under the care of doctors for continued observation,” the team noted.
“I just was seeing the ball and was breaking up the ball and it just happened to be one of those plays,” Bullock told reporters, denying any desire to harm Dubose.
