Vinod Kambli Biography


Born on January 18, 1972, Vinod Kambli was a former Indian cricket player who represented Mumbai, Boland, South Africa, and India as a left-handed middle-order batsman. On his birthday, Kambli became the first cricket player to reach a century in a One Day International. He played with the squad that placed second in the ICC Champions Trophy in 2000.

Despite having the greatest career batting average of any Indian Test cricket player (54), he played his final Test match at the age of 23. He was only chosen for One Day Internationals after that, however he made his final appearance in that format at the young age of 28.

He served as a cricket analyst for a Marathi news station during the 2019 Cricket World Cup and has been a pundit on a number of television networks. Along with acting in a few serials and Bollywood movies, he has also been in a number of reality shows. In the Kannada movie Bettanagere, he had a supporting part. Kambli currently serves on the Mumbai Cricket Association’s Cricket Improvement Committee.

Vinod Kambli Early life

Vinod Kambli was born into a Hindu family from Maharashtra. He is from Mumbai’s Indira Nagar, Kanjur Marg. Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar was friends with him as a child.

At Pune’s St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Kambli wed Catholic Noella Lewis for the first time. In 1998, she was employed as a receptionist at the Hotel Blue Diamond in Pune. Following their split, Kambli wed Andrea Hewitt, a fashion model. June 2010 saw the birth of the couple’s child.

When the first video of Kambli straining to walk on the street went viral on social media in August, Couto paid him a visit at his Bandra home.

Kapil Dev, the great captain of the Indian cricket team, also backed Kambli. Kapil clarified, though, that Kambli had to be prepared to start the healing process.

Balwinder Singh Sandhu, a former fast bowler for India, stated, “Kapil (Dev, captain of the 1983 team) has made it very clear to me that we are prepared to provide him with financial support if he wishes to go to rehab.”

But first, he needs to check himself into a recovery facility. No matter how long the treatment takes, we are only willing to pay for it provided he accomplishes that,” Sandhu continued.

In 1991, he played his first ODI match against Pakistan in the Wills Sharjah Trophy. In 1992 and 1996, he competed in World Cup events. Teaching

Kambli announced his retirement from cricket on August 15, 2009, in order to focus on coaching at the Khel Bharati Sports Academy in Mumbai.

He has been the head coach of the MCA Academy at BKC, Mumbai.

From 2018 until 2022, Kambli worked at the Tendulkar Middlesex Global Academy. In early 2022, he left his position as the academy’s full-time TMGA Head Coach at DY Patil in Navi Mumbai.
